Rhodia starts to operate in Brazil the second sustainable solvent plant Augeo
Rhodia, a company of the Solvay Group, put into operation in Brazil the second production plant dedicated exclusively to the sustainable solvent Augeo®, increasing the productive capacity of this solvent to 20 thousand tons per year.
Innovation created by the Brazilian researchers of the Solvay Group and registered with the "Vegan Society", the Augeo® product line, derived from a renewable source (glycerin), with a focus on sustainability and high performance, is composed of versatile molecules, with high power of solubilization and very low odor.
Augeo® solvents, internationally patented, are used mainly in the consumer goods markets, with an emphasis on the product range of air fresheners, and in personal care items and fragrances and products for the home, such as multipurpose cleaners and air fresheners .
Installed in the company's industrial complex in Paulínia (Brazil), the new plant already operates at full load, with around 80% of production destined for export, 30% of which to the United States.
"Augeo® has been the driving force behind the internationalization of our business unit", observes Antonio Leite, global vice president of Phenol and Derivatives, Oxygenated Solvents and Fibers and Polyamide at the Solvay Group. The new plant represents the challenge of expanding sales, in order to fully exploit the new production capacity.
